Opalshell™-C18 are the latest columns from Sepax based on the solid-core technology. As the stationary phase, silica particles are used which consist of a solid non-porous core surrounded by a porous silica layer. The advantages of this technology are high separation efficiencies, which are in the range of fully porous sub-2 μm particles but have a low back pressure in the region of the fully porous material of the same size.
Phase | Modification | Particle size | Pore size | Surface | pH range | Tmax |
Opalshell-C18 | C18 | 2.6 µm | 90 Å | 150 m²/g | 1.5-10 | 60 °C |
The spherical silica particles of the Opalshell ™ -C18 columns have a very small particle size distribution and have a mean size of 2.6 μm - composed of a 1.6 μm non-porous core and an overlying 0.5 μm layer of a porous C18- modified silica material.
