Supelcosil™ is a product line of Supelco® Analytical, which is a division of Sigma-Aldrich (a subsidiary of Merck since 2015). All Supelcosil columns are based on spherical silica gel, which is available in various modifications. The product range extends from unmodified normal to medium polar and reversed phases. In addition, the Supelcosil SAX1 and the Supelcosil LC-SCX are also available as anion and cation exchange columns.
With the Supelcosil Hisep, there is also a mixed-mode column that has a protected hydrophobic phase. The silica gel is encased in a thin polymer layer with hydrophobic regions in a hydrophilic network. This allows small analytes to be retarded and proteins to be excluded.
Supelcosil LC-18-DB and Supelcosil LC-8-DB are characterised by special deactivation, which means that the columns have shorter retention times and better peak shapes for organic bases.
Supelcosil ABZ+Plus and Supelcosil ABZ are phases that are used for basic, acidic, polar neutral and non-polar components thanks to a unique deactivation technology. These columns are complemented by Supelcosil Suplex pKb-100, which has the same modification but no end-capping. This gives it better performance with strongly basic components.
