Carbowax® is a widely used polar stationary phase for gas chromatography. The phase is based on polyethylene glycol and is partially available as bulk material. Carbowax® phases are available as capillary columns as well as packed GC columns using different substrates (e.g. Chromosorb W HP or Carbopack B). For the capillary columns Carbowax® 20M and HP-20M, the stationary phase is not bonded or cross-linked, so solvent rinsing is not recommended. The columns are suitable for the analysis of alcohols, free acids, ethers, glycol and solvents.
