Merck Supelco (Sigma-Aldrich) / Carboxen

Carboxen

####MAGENTO-BREADCRUMBS####

Carboxen GC columns from Merck Supelco are based on carbon. These adsorbents have increasingly smaller (tapered) pores. This results in increased thermodynamic and kinetic efficiency for both adsorption and desorption. The surface chemistry of these materials can also be adapted to specific analytes. As a result, there are 19 different Carboxen materials, three of which (Carboxen 1000, 1006 and 1010) are used in GC columns.

Technical Data

  • Carboxen 1000: through pores; high surface area and optimised microporosity for effective adsorption and desorption of small compounds; most widely used Carboxen material for sample collection from air or in purification traps and also in GC columns
  • Carboxen 1006: through pores; only available in 2µm; used as adsorbent in Porous Layer Open Tubular (PLOT) columns
  • Carboxen 1010: through pores; only available in 2µm; used as adsorbent in Porous Layer Open Tubular (PLOT) columns
