The new LD-249 Gas Leak Detector from GL Sciences has been on the market since January 2025 and replaces the old LD-239 model. The detector measures gas leakage by thermal conductivity between target gases such as helium, carbon dioxide, argon, neon, etc. and the reference gas. The LD249 is characterised by a handy and lightweight design, ideal for quick and easy detection of gas leaks. The leak detector uses a small pump to draw air from the sample through a thermal conductivity measuring cell and measures the difference in thermal conductivity between the carrier gas such as helium, argon or neon and the reference gas. In gas chromatography, the leakage detector is used when changing the capillary column in the chromatograph.
According to the manufacturer GL Sciences, this measuring device for detecting gas leakage is the smallest, lightest and most sensitive on the market. The LD 249 detects up to 0.0005 mL/min helium gas and is easily rechargeable anywhere with the USB-C port. As an official distribution partner of GL Sciences and No. 1 supplier in Europe, the LD 249 gas leak detector is now available from MZ-Analysentechnik GmbH.

The lightweight and portable design makes leak detection easy to carry out without adding weight. The device can be transported in a tool case. Handling is clear and simple
The LD-249 leak detector measures based on the thermal conductivity of gases. Not only is the detection of helium and carbon dioxide possible, but also nitrogen due to the high sensitivity of the device.
In addition to the alkaline battery as a power source, the device can also be powered via USB-C. With a power bank or connected to a computer, the detector can be used even if the battery has not been changed. Please note, however, that there is no recharging via USB-C and no USB-C cable is supplied.
