Molecular sieves (Molsieves) are synthetic or natural zeolites or other materials which have a high adsorption capacity for gases and solutes with certain molecular sizes (for example aluminosilicates). These can be used as stationary phases for gas chromatography. The selectivity depends on the pore size of the molecular sieve. Molsieve GC columns are available as capillary columns (PLOT columns) or as packed columns.
Application areas are for example the analysis of permanent gases.
